Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo | CHILL

Would you like to help build a new domain within the agri-food sector while also contributing to the development of talent in the region?

At Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo, you will work on an important mission: strengthening the theme of healthy and sustainable food by connecting businesses, education, and talent. You will play a key role in identifying innovation challenges and translating them into practical projects in which talent development is central.

Who is Brightlands?

Brightlands is the driving force behind innovation in Limburg. It brings together the innovative power of a region with a unique international location, surrounded by major Belgian and German cities with millions of people nearby.

The organisation is supported by four campuses, home to around 400 companies as well as many employees and students. Together with other innovators in the Brightlands region, they work on solutions to major global challenges in areas such as circularity, sustainable food production, health, and digitalisation.

Brightlands Campus Greenport Venlo is a leading hub for healthy and sustainable food, future farming, and the bio-circular economy. In this way, the campus makes an important contribution to a more sustainable and future-proof society.

The organisation has an open and approachable culture. Its team of professionals ensures that everyone on campus feels welcome and has the opportunity to reach their full potential. The goal is to continue growing the campus community, creating more valuable partnerships and innovative developments. This growth focuses on knowledge development, value creation, facilities, and the development of talent and community.

Your role

This is not a standard Business Developer role. You will actively help build the foundation of a new programme, bringing together expertise, partners, and talent.

As a Business Developer, you will work on developing a strong and effective ecosystem around healthy and sustainable food. You will focus on identifying relevant challenges within companies and translating them into practical collaborations with educational institutions and talent. You will not do this alone. Together with the programme lead, you will help build and structure this domain, ensuring the right partnerships, processes, and connections are in place to support sustainable growth.

You will start in a development phase on the campus, with the aim of structurally embedding these activities within CHILL, the public-private environment for talent development and practice-based research.

What will you do?

  • Identify and develop innovation challenges within companies in the agri-food sector.
  • Translate these challenges into practical projects in which businesses, education, and talent work together.
  • Build and maintain a network of companies, knowledge institutions, and educational partners.
  • Connect students, young professionals, and other talent groups to projects and innovation challenges.
  • Help develop the structure and way of working of the programme.
  • Identify opportunities within the healthy and sustainable food domain and turn them into new initiatives.
  • Work together with the campus, CHILL, and partners to create a sustainable structure for the domain.

What do we offer?

  • A unique role in which you will help build a new domain within the campus from the ground up.
  • The opportunity to work in an innovative ecosystem involving businesses, educational institutions, and government organisations.
  • The chance to make an impact on both innovation and talent development in the region.
  • A gross monthly salary between €3,948 and €4,630 based on full-time employment (38 hours), depending on experience.
  • An end-of-year bonus (8.3%).
  • Holiday allowance (8%).
  • 30 days of annual leave based on full-time employment.
  • A role that will develop towards long-term integration within CHILL.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • The opportunity to work on an inspiring campus with state-of-the-art facilities.

What do you bring?

  • Higher professional education (HBO+) or university (WO) level of working and thinking.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant experience in business development, innovation, or public-private collaboration within a similar sector.
  • Affinity with the agri-food sector, with a main focus on healthy and sustainable food, as well as the bio-circular economy.
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to connect different stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial, independent, and able to bring structure to an environment that is still developing.
  • Comfortable working in a role where not everything is fully defined.
