About the role

Nouryon has two Carboxyl Methyl Cellulose (CMC) manufacturing sites Arnhem, Netherlands, Äänekoski, Finland. CMC is a versatile product with applications in various markets worldwide, ranging from industrial uses (oil drilling) to strictly regulated markets in food, animal feed, and pharmaceuticals. CMC is produced from cellulose, caustic soda, and Monochloroacetic acid (MCA).

The facility in Arnhem is capable of producing a large number of product types. The production process consists of multiple lines that operate semi-continuously. A significant part of the post-processing in the process involves solid material handling. The site is classified as "SEVESO," which means there is an increased HSE risk that extends beyond the site boundaries.

As QC Manager you report to the Process & Quality Control Manager and lead a team of four QC Analysts. You manage and coordinate all QC activities and laboratory workload to ensure that customers consistently receive on-spec products, including prioritizing testing, calibrations, product release and Out of spec investigations. You foster a strong quality culture that meets regulated market expectations and ensure effective communication within QC and with Production, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain and Maintenance.
Your responsibilities as QC Manager will include

• Provide day to day functional leadership to the QC lab team
• Perform QC analyses on raw materials, in process and final products.
• Organize and conduct batch review and product release decisions.
• Ensure correct use of validated/verified methods and maintain oversight on method documentation.
• Review and approve analytical results and QC documentation.
• Support method validations through organizing Gauge R&R studies based on method validation program from R&D.
• Support internal/external audits and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, FSSC 22000, EXCiPACT and GMP like requirements
• Oversee calibration, preventive maintenance and equipment qualification executed by the team.
• Provide direction during troubleshooting and ensure laboratory systems (e.g., MES, LIMS) function reliably
• Support product stability study testing to ensure product quality over time
• Ensures that the reporting employees carry out their duties in compliance with all relevant requirements that are part of the internal HSE&S system

We believe you bring

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (HBO) or equivalent experience in (chemical) laboratory technology
• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
• At least 1 year of experience in leading a team
• Fluent in English and Dutch, German is highly desired.
• Knowledge of relevant quality standards and regulations (GMP+, HACCP, FSSC 22.000, Excipact, ISO 9001)
• Understanding of equipment qualification/calibration principles and laboratory systems (LIMS/MES)
• High level of ownership, quality mindset, and decisiveness in a regulated environment.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, based in Arnhem. In this role you report to the PQC Manager who is also based in Arnhem .
