Camp Director

The Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Recreation Leader/Camp Director for the 2026 season. This is a seasonal PT position in our Summer Fun program tentatively scheduled for 8 weeks, 20-30 hours per week. Salary negotiable based on experience.

Required Qualifications

• Age 21+
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Must possess a teaching or teaching assistant certification.
• 2+ years experience in a Pre-K, elementary classroom or camp setting.
• Possess leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible in challenging situations.
• Possess a drivers license*
  
  

Preferred

• 1-3 years experience as a camp counselor or assistant camp counselor.
• Passion for and experience with working with young children.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• The ability to work closely with other staff and the public.
• Energetic and physically fit, able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  
  

Responsibilities

Create, Plan and Direct a variety of recreational activities for ages K-6. (Outdoors)

Evaluate and adjust lesson plans and activities as needed.

Conduct all activities according to the policies, procedures and practices of The Town of Southampton Parks and Recreation Department.

• Enforce safety and Administer First Aid when necessary.
• Maintain a safe environment for all participants and staff.
• Issues and cares for equipment, materials and supplies.
• Supervise, develop and evaluate a staff of 8 or more.
• Keeps records and make periodic reports.
• May be required to drive a 10-12 passenger van to transport equipment and staff.
