Associate Director - Preclinical Pharmacology

We're supporting the growth of an innovative life sciences organisation in Leiden that is looking to hire an experienced Associate Director to provide scientific leadership and help shape the direction of their preclinical research strategy.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established preclinical expert who can combine scientific expertise with strategic thinking, leading programmes that support the progression of novel therapeutics.

Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across discovery, biology, DMPK, toxicology and translational functions, the successful candidate will play a key role in defining preclinical approaches, influencing scientific decisions and strengthening research capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across preclinical pharmacology programmes
• Define and implement pharmacology strategies to support pipeline progression
• Oversee the design, execution and interpretation of in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo studies
• Act as a scientific leader across cross-functional discovery teams
• Mentor and develop scientists within the research function
• Present scientific insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  
  

What are we looking for?

• PhD in Pharmacology, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline
• Extensive experience within preclinical drug discovery in biotech or pharma
• Strong expertise in pharmacology, disease models and experimental strategy
• Proven experience leading scientific programmes and influencing research direction
• Ability to operate strategically while maintaining strong scientific depth
