This Is The Role - What You Will Do

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help shape the next generation of our platform as we transition from a monolith to a distributed service architecture. You’ll contribute to high‑impact cloud services, mentor other engineers, and play a key part in scaling a mission‑critical system used across multiple countries.

These Are The Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership:

• You lead the design and evolution of our service-oriented architecture as we move more services into Kubernetes.
• You drive improvements in performance, reliability, observability, and system design across critical services.
• You’re a mentor and problem-solver. You support and help less experienced engineers in the team to grow their skills.
  
  

Engineering Excellence:

• You build it - you run it. We run and monitor our own software, supported by a dedicated DevOps team and 3rd-line support. There is no on-call expectation for this position.
• You bring autonomy and ownership. We expect you to actively think about what we build and how we build it, and how we can do that better, and take the initiative to improve.
• You believe we build better software together. You actively seek collaboration and help the team collaborate more effectively.
  
  

How We Work

• We’re midway through our modernization journey: most functionality has already been extracted from our legacy monolith into modern, domain‑oriented services. Our current stack is Symfony with modern PHP, running in a service‑oriented, event‑driven architecture using MariaDB and RabbitMQ.
• We are actively migrating all services to Kubernetes, with some legacy components still running on Linux virtual machines.
• We use Datadog intensively for monitoring and logging.
• We are a product-driven company, and we work following the scrum methodology.
• Our R&D team is divided into two departments: one focusing on physical products and firmware, and the other on our cloud services. Our cloud services department consists of two software teams (one of which you’ll join), a DevOps team, an integrations team and a 3rd line technical support team.
• This is a hybrid role, with 2 days a week on-site in our Zoetermeer office.
  
  

What You Will Bring

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
• Experience with designing complex, large-scale and highly performant systems
• Good English language skills
  
  

What Would Be Even Better

We’d see it as a big advantage if you have any of the following:

• Dutch language skills
• Experience in a regulated environment, like medical or financial industries
• DevOps experience and/or experience with containerized software
